Ever Thought
Time keeps running toward the end of…
Some place we have yet to see
Over the far horizon
Way past the sea and sunset
A long way beyond the breaking day
And if I could reach out for one moment
And slow its pace
I would gather its full form into my arms
Clasping a moderate hold while stroking
The hours hand to draw a more slow and steady flow
I’d teach the time my daily dance
Where fast and slow and moderate marry
For what is to be done; on my agenda
An exhausting routine of sorts;
Where the good, the bad, and the ugly could mix
Then I’d show it my perfect preference
Where I keep the good, and eliminate the bad
And play the game of keeping pleasant
Flying past unpleasant trials
And languidly moving only through the best parts
A lot longer I would take for rest and sleep
And vacationing on the beach
But quarrels, contention, and unnecessary drama
We’ll hurdle over with the agility of a sprite
And rest a bit more on fun times with friends & family
It’ll help me hold them a while somewhat greater
Than the usual stride and quickness
That Time personifies and relishes
In this case, it’ll learn my ways
And sway with my thoughts, my whims, my wishes
To stop and smell the roses
Of my life’s most memorable moments
In one place, it’ll sit with me all day
And learn the benefit of rest
For which it has never yet enjoyed
And moving on from there
For work, I would only do that which I love
In song, and written word…with Time
Reading and watching the most glorious art filled forms
Of YAHWEH’S Creative Extension to mankind
And there would be ten days in a week
And Five would be for rest and rejuvenation
And Time would check in from time to time
Just to make sure I approve of its passing pace
For all my moments needing a lengthier stay
But here, I know this could never be
As Time moves us towards Eternity
There it’ll stop, and rest permanently
And there, engage with the ones who are free
Then this wishful exchange will come true for me
